A Beautiful Lie by Irfan Master

This book was great! Sometimes I did not exactly understand what was going on and what certain words meant, but otherwise it was thrilling and interesting. A Beautiful Lie is about a boy named Bilal who lives in India with his dad. Bilal’s dad is dying and he loves India, but the world around him is dying, there are fights about Muslims and it looks like India is dying. Bilal comes up with a plan with his friends to protect his dad from the truth about India. Bilal wants his dad to end in peace and not have to worry about anything. Soon though, Bilal’s lie that he made is beginning to become more and more complicated, soon taking on a life of it’s own. As India is going down, Bilal is struggling to keep him, his dad, and the lie alive.

I recommend this book for grades: 6th-8th
