The Nest by: Kenneth Oppel

Maya Says:

The Nest is a great book. It is also kind of creepy. A boy named Steve has a newborn baby brother who was born different. Steve starts having strange dreams about wasps trying to make him a new baby brother. He is starting to wonder if the dreams are real… Should he say yes or no to a new, and healthier baby? Are the wasps evil? What about Mr. Nobody and the creepy knife guy who goes around sharpening peoples’ knives?

Mom Says:

Though this book is for middle grade readers, I COULD NOT put it down. It took me back to the fears and nightmares in my own childhood (why I got my kicks out of this is something for me to delve into later:). It is bizarre and creepy and excellent storytelling. I can’t even tell you that much about it because I don’t want to give a speck away!

We recommend this book for grades:5th grade and up
